The Heart in Scripture
The following excerpts from various passages indicate that the soul is the heart and has the three functions of mind, emotion, and will. This kind of study is helpful to see how a word is used in scripture. As you can see a person can think and understand with the heart, he can express sorrow or anguish from the heart or he can make decisions or purpose with the heart. These are all functions of the mind, emotions and will and originate in the heart.
